Delusion? Or Genius?

So while I was scheming about my Tervigon conversion, I had an idea:

All those Rippers we all have kicking around? And all that extra space on the MC bases?

I was thinking of magnetizing 6 rippers onto my next Trygon's base, and pulling them off as wound markers.

What do you think?

Alright, it was Paddy's idea!  I'm scared to contradict him.

  1. It's been done and I think it is a great idea. I wish I would have done it before I painted my tervies. Oh well, more for the Parasite to breed.

  2. As much as I fail to see the point of Rippers when we've got Hormagaunts that'll do the job better

I do like them and they can be an annoying little flea in someone's ear if they're ignored. So I'd rather have them than use them as decoration, which is why I'm bdoing another 2 bases for my son to take him to a total of 5.

You can obviously do a set of my Wound counters instead

Cheaper and everyone gets interested when you start popping them on the bases and asks where you got them from.

But using the Rippers on bases is cool and looks cool, I'd just rather have an extra unit. Perhaps swap the Rippers for Adrenal Glands? Just because they're symbiotes doesn't mean they don't crawl around looking for a host. In fact they're doing just that on the front cover of the Codex

  3. Nice idea. I use Rippers for objective markers myself.

  4. It definitely adds flair to your force when you do something creative like that, but hopefully it doesn't come at the cost of viable models. Rippers really aren't as bad as people let on. In fact, if they counted as scoring units, they'd definitely be my preferred troops choice. They're small, multiple wounds, relatively cheap, are nasty in h2h, and can get guns. What's not to love?!
